“The moment I knew this story needed to exist”…

There are two ways to go about this. Are we talking when I knew I wanted to write this story, or when I knew it needed to be published as a book to share with people outside of my social circle?

Lucky for you, I enjoy telling tales (I am a writer, after al), so I shall answer both versions of the prompt.
